Project Description
Plastic waste poses a significant threat to the environment, causing a destructive cycle. Improper disposal leads plastics into water bodies, where they break down into microplastics. Marine life mistakes these particles for food, leading to ingestion, injury, and death. The toxins from plastics accumulate in the food chain, posing risks to humans. Terrestrial ecosystems suffer as well, with soil contamination affecting plant life. Urgent action is crucial to break this destructive cycle and protect our planet.

This project explores the production of bio-based plastics as a sustainable alternative for environmental conservation. By incorporating biodegradable ingredients which can be found in our kitchens, diverse prototypes with distinct material characteristics are created. This ongoing research seeks to optimize material properties, advocate for closed-loop systems, and raise people awareness. The ultimate goal is to guide individuals away from the environmental hazards posed by traditional plastics.
